Dress Code and Uniform Policy
S. W. King Intermediate School 2018 - 2019
All students are expected to wear student uniforms every day of the school year (including the first day of school). The uniform must be worn upon entering the campus and until leaving school grounds.

Daily uniform includes:
- A student uniform t-shirt, purchased from Kula Threads.
- Bottom attire (skirts, pants, shorts, capris, etc.) that are at least knee-length.
- Previous year’s uniform t-shirts.
- Footwear.
- School-issued t-shirts (including athletic teams, clubs, and band) from the current year may be worn any day of the week. The PE shirt is excluded.
- Outerwear (jackets and sweaters) can be worn over a school uniform, however, it must have a zippered or buttoned front closure. EXCEPTION: King Intermediate hoodies are allowed. Students are not allowed to wear hoods while on campus.
- Long-sleeved t-shirts (unless King Intermediate School issued), flannel shirts, sweatshirts, hooded shirts, etc., are not considered outwear and are not allowed.
- Students cannot wear clothing/accessories with any distasteful slogans, profanity, or images.
- Clothing (e.g., jeans) with holes, cuts, rips, or tears or ragged appearance (e.g., cut-off jeans) are not allowed, even if patched or worn over other items of clothing (leggings).
- Pants with sheer material (leggings) are allowed only if the sheer area is below the knees.
- The school shirt may not be altered or changed from the original appearance, except for special circumstances that are approved by an administrator, prior to alterations.
- Other than during PE, hats are considered contraband and not to be worn.
- Any other type of headgear (e.g., beanies, sunglasses, bandanas, etc.) is not allowed on campus and will be confiscated to be picked up in the office after school.
- Students who violate the dress code will be required to call home for a change of clothes
- “Clothes not washed” is not an accepted excuse. Detention will be issued and a parent conference with an administrator may be required if uniform violations persist.

- Students are issued a photo ID at the beginning of the school year.
- IDs are required for purchasing meals, borrowing books, and attending school functions. Failure to show IDs when requested will result in consequences.
- Students are required to purchase a replacement ID, if lost or damaged, in the front office before or after school for a fee of $2.
